Program Description and Methodolody
TKL’s Guided PLC program is a bold, innovative approach to traditional professional learning communities. Guided PLCs go beyond traditional professional development for teachers, transforming learning communities with purposefully designed frameworks, successful strategies, leading technologies, and collaborative processes.
The GPLC program provides teams of teachers with a catalog of targeted instructional topics, powered by an easy-to-use online learning platform, and a guided process tied to established school settings.
Our model meets teachers’ individual professional learning needs, provides structured opportunities for peer collaboration, and requires both individual and group instructional reflection. Our online platform makes it easy for teacher teams to tap into the collective knowledge of their peers in a guided, collaborative environment.
TKL’s Guided PLCs allow teachers to develop the facilitation and leadership skills required to create scalable change in your classroom and beyond. Go beyond traditional PD, with TKL’s Guided Professional Learning for teachers.

TESTIMONIALS
"I think using the strategies we came up with during our PLC meetings definitely helped increase academic discourse within the classroom. Students needed the guided structure that sentence starters and discussion questions offered, and knowing that they would receive a grade for an assignment based around their discussion provided the initial motivation to try something that was new and uncomfortable for some students. It was somewhat difficult to measure how much the additional discourse increased student achievement, as the high-performing students took more quickly to the discourse, but I believe that with continued use over time the increased use of academic discourse will lead to greater achievement for all students. To continue our forward progress I plan to continue using the discourse strategies we've worked on in the classroom, and to try to use discourse as a regular step in the problem-solving process."

"Overall the lesson implementation helped us in meeting our goal. It did by helping shift our paradigm and just gaining new helpful ideas that will help our whole school increase our levels in all areas. The socialization aspect, teaches them to work as a team rather than to fight with one another. To continue our forward progress we need to make sure others that didn't take this class need to know at least how collaboration among teachers has helped us as well as our students. This will be more measurable with time I suspect. I think during a professional development for the school, some of us, not me can lead the rest of our school community in an overview of our experience."

"The lesson helped us in meeting our goal although we need to continue implementing them as we progress throughout the school year. Student better understand our expectations for academic discourse as they work with a partner or in small groups. There is some improvement in mathematical explanations as they improve in the use of academic language and also use sentence starters."

"The lessons were beneficial in us meeting the desired goal. I saw students getting excited and very intense when having their discussions. I also believe this will helps students when they need to explain their thinking and put it in writing."
