Colorado Professional teacher license renewal: Obtain proof of completion of 6 semester hours or 90 clock hours of renewal credit.

  • State Re-Certification Hours Option- For each course completed, you will earn either 30-45 Professional Development Hours toward the 90 state PD hours requirement. You can now register for our courses at any time. When you register for one of our self-paced courses you will have up to 4 months from the date of registration to complete your course. Since these courses are completely self-paced the amount of time to complete it will be dependent on how much time you put into it on a regular basis. Most teachers are able to finish their course within a 4-week period.
  • Graduate Credits Option: Teach & Kids Learn (TKL) provides accredited university graduate credits courses. We provide official transcripts. and letter grades upon the successful completion of your selected course. When selecting your course, choose any of our Graduate Credit level courses from our registration page.

We always recommend that you follow any pre-approval requirements in your district before you register for courses. However, many teachers have been successful using our courses to advance on their district’s salary scale—and have typically been able to use our university/college-level course offerings.

State Requirements

Your credits must not be more than 5 years old.

The State Board of Education approved new rules to ensure educators in Colorado are prepared to meet the needs of English learners in our schools. Effective Sept. 1, 2018, educators endorsed in elementary, English, math, science, and/or social studies seeking to renew their professional license must complete or demonstrate completion of professional development activities equivalent to 45 clock/contact hours or three semester hours in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) education that meets or exceeds the standards outlined in section 5.12-5.15 of 1 CCR 301-37. This requirement must only be completed once during the term of the educator’s career. Effective September 1, 2018, educators endorsed in elementary, math, science, social studies, or English seeking a renewal of their professional license must complete or demonstrate completion of professional development activities equivalent to 45 clock/contact hours or three semester hours in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) Education within a full five-year renewal period.
