As Director of Content Development for Teach & Kids Learn (TKL), Carey serves as editor in chief and ensures all course content adheres to the TKL methodology and instructional design elements for professional development.

With over 20 years of experience designing and delivering professional learning, Carey’s work focuses on cultivating talent in educators and empowering them to effect sustainable change in preK-12 learning environments. Her academic passions include educational psychology, special education, language and literacy development, organizational leadership, and culturally responsive instruction. Carey earned her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Educational Psychology from the University of Southern California. She is a credentialed teacher with a BS in Early Childhood Education and an MA in K-12 Cross Categorical Special Education.

In addition to her work with TKL, Carey is an adjunct professor in the Organizational Change and Leadership Ed.D. program at the University of Southern California where she teaches courses in learning, motivation, and framing educational problems. As a volunteer with the Prison Education Project, Carey facilitates classes at several California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation institutions. Teaching at correctional facilities is a perpetual reminder to Carey of the importance of education, and an intimation of the need to remove barriers to the equitable access of rigorous standards, exceptional instruction, and innovative technologies to ensure all students are prepared to participate constructively in their communities.
