Equalizing Access to Mathematics

The focus of this GPLC Instructional Topic is intended to provide opportunities for teachers to proficiently master strategies for differentiation to ensure all students can succeed, by equalizing access to mathematical instruction.

Connections with the Danielson’s Framework will be integrated throughout the course with a real-life, hands-on application by providing specific strategies to address diverse student needs.

The primary goal of this instructional topic will be for teachers to review how to equalize access to math instruction by designing tiered mathematical tasks, as a way to differentiate instruction to ensure all students have equal access for success. This will ensure student have multiple entry points for solving math tasks and problems, by using scaffolds and other instructional strategies, thus supporting mathematics achievement for all.
