Designing Coherent Instruction

Why is designing coherent instruction an important component of effective teaching?  Coherent instruction design is the heart of planning which reflects a teacher’s knowledge of content and students.  It reflects the intended outcomes of instruction and determines resources that are available.

This type of planning requires a clear understanding of state, district, and school expectations for student learning. It requires that the teacher have a deep understanding of the characteristics of the students that they teach and the active nature of student learning.

In this course, we will learn how to design coherent lessons that result in steady student advancement at the proper pace and using their preferred learning styles.
