State Re-Certification SCECH Credit Option – Teach & Kids Learn (TKL) has partnered with William Carey University School of Education which is an Accreditation University in Mississippi. Courses provided for teachers in Mississippi will be worth 45 contact hours or 4.5 CEUs. (10 course contact hours = 1 CEU)

Mississippi CEU Processing Fee: A $80.00 fee is required to process your CEUs through William Carey University School of Education.

Teachers with standard certification in Mississippi hold a five-year renewable certificate. These licenses must be renewed every five years with Continuing Education Units (CEUs), college coursework, or by the completion of the National Board process earned during the renewal cycle of the license.

Please note that any license issued for less than five years is a provisional license and is non-renewable.

  • Graduate Credits Option: Teach & Kids Learn (TKL) provides accredited university graduate credits courses. We provide official transcripts. and letter grades upon the successful completion of your selected course. When selecting your course, choose any of our Graduate Credit level courses from our registration page.

We always recommend that you follow any pre-approval requirements in your district before you register for courses. However, many teachers have been successful using our courses to advance on their district’s salary scale—and have typically been able to use our university/college-level course offerings.

Current requirements for Renewal of a Five-Year Standard License
Class A:

  1. Ten (10) continuing education units (CEUs) in content or job/skill-related area; or
  2. Three (3) semester hours in content or job/skill-related area AND five (5) continuing education units (CEUs) in content or job/skill-related area; or
  3. Six (6) semester hours in content or job/skill-related area; or
  4. Completion of the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards process

Class AA, AAA or AAAA:

  1. Three (3) semester hours in content or job/skill-related area; or
  2. Five (5) continuing education units (CEUs) in content or job/skill-related area; or
  3. Completion of the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards process

Standard Career Administrator:

  1. Seventy (70) School Executive Management Institute (SEMI) credits; or
  2. Six (6) hours of coursework; or
  3. Thirty-five (35) SEMI credits AND three (3) hours of coursework; or
  4. Completion of a specialist or doctoral degree in educational administration/leadership

Reinstatement of an Expired License
An expired five-year standard license may be reinstated with one of the following options:

  1. Six (6) hours of college coursework
  2. Valid out-of-state license
  3. Documentation from PERS for retired educators CEUs
